Smashing Sterotypes!

8th March is an important day #iwd2021.

It’s a day where globally we celebrate women's achievements & seek to make this world we live in inclusive. At #hopegardensindia we pledge to continue to smash stereotypes, offer opportunities for all & importantly enable girls to be educated to a level where doors are opened and not shut for them. We believe in leading by example and what fantastic women we have in our communities to do just that. Look no further than Saguntha.

Storms hit the region

Vasthi updates us on the strong storms hitting the area

“Our cattle caretaker Mr. Jeyanayagam congregation member of Rehoboth Rhema Revival Church, Cumbummettu has had his house's roof blown up by a severe wind that hit Cumbum last week.

It is raining here daily and the wind is at its peak in the nights. While their family, which consists of himself, his wife, his son, his daughter in law and two grandkids (little girls), were all sleeping by 11:00 pm in the night,  there was heavy rain and a heavy wind and the tin sheet roof of their entire house was blown up and it fell on the roof of another house which was two houses next to his house.

Thankfully no injuries were caused to any of them including the children when the roof and the things attached to it fell on the ground. They immediately came out and went to Rev. Prakash's Church which was nearby and spent the night there. They are staying there and are in a plan to rebuild their roof. Until then Rev. Prakash and Mr. Jeyanayagam's relatives are taking care of the entire family.

God protected all of them in this accident and thankfully they are all safe.”

Food parcels

We have had an incredible response to our #hopegardensindia appeal, 450 food parcels have now been delivered. Families units are often complicated with often 3 generations and extended family living under one roof. 450 parcels have fed at least 2500 people.

Loneliness, anxiety and stress are all too common an issue faced by many globally and your relief efforts could not have been more timely. We are deeply encouraged by the positive impact that this act of compassion, providing such practical help, can have to uplift spirits at such a crucial time.

With no income families continue to struggle meaning that starvation is a very real prospect.

As lockdown continues across the districts our appeal funds will continue to be used for food parcels and supporting families most in need.
