An equal world is an enabled world

This year’s International Women’s Day slogan is “An equal world is an enabled world” and we wholeheartedly support this message.

Hope Gardens is all about providing opportunities to enable and enhance the lives of others. Regardless of gender we promote those who have compassion and drive to deliver change in our communities.

On International Women’s Day we celebrate Ruby’s achievements. A truly remarkable women who, through a year of personal challenges, has retrained from being a school teacher to becoming a leader in her community and will be ordained as a Deaconess on Sunday 8th March.

Sadly not all communities that we serve in are respectful and supportive of all individuals and today we pray for courage and strength for those who face opposition or discrimination due to their gender or faith.

Running for Hope!

What a fantastic day for a great cause!

Team Hope Gardens came together at Tower Bridge to run the vitality big half marathon around London on the first day of spring. An incredible achievement with personal best times broken by Aimee and Polly running her first ever 1/2 marathon - amazing! We are so grateful for this fantastic team of strong women who are up for a challenge! As a result of all their hard work training in the cold winter months £1440 has been raised so far for our Hope for Children and the new sensory facility.

New After school programme opens

We are delighted that our first after school programme has opened in Kerala!

We are so grateful for the foresight of Robin and his team for seeing the need and starting a new programme for the local children. The children will be tutored, play games, make new friends and be fed after school each day. This village is up in the Keralan hills surrounded by tea and spice plantations.

As is the case with many of these villages the parents work late into the night on the plantations and the children are often left to fend for themselves.

Isn’t it fantastic that the children now have such a fun and safe place to be!

Huge thanks to all of our Hope for Children supporters - you are transforming lives.

Many hands make light work

Huge thanks to our recent US visitors who took time out to help plant the new rice crop. Praise God for this land and the ability to grow rice for Hope Gardens.

Our process is that seeds are planted in our nursery and when they have grown sufficiently these plantings are taken, separated and replant in the main fields. These plants now have room to grow.

It was fantastic to be part of the planting team and experience the hard work that goes into farming our own rice crop. This is such a positive sustainable initiative which we are so proud to support.

Thank you Hal, Kristin and Bob for help plant our rice crop.
